Gail's Story
Gail is from Chatham, New York. Gail is married with two sons and a granddaughter and grandson. Gail's schools include Chatham Elementary School, and Carmel High School. Gail later attended State University of New York at Fredonia (BS in Elementary Education, Art). She earned her MA from Cortland. Gail worked 33 years as an intermediate teacher in New Hartford, NY, after a brief stint at the Rome Museum, and two years with N.Y.S. Senator James Donovan, 42nd District. During those 33 years she created two field trips in collaboration with Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute and was an instructor to peers inside and outside her district focusing on document-based essays. Vacations were spent in Europe, Australia, South America, and Africa. Gail retired from teaching in 2006 and moved to her hometown in Chatham, back to her childhood home. orical Society (established in 1994). In 2009, Around the Village of Chatham, was published by Arcadia Publications from Gail's research. She writes a monthly column for The Chatham Courier called Historical Ramblings.
Gail's interests include history, travel, art, and renovating her 1936 Arts and Crafts house. Music Gail likes includes an eclectic appreciation leaning toward Big Band sounds and Rock and Roll. She is a follower of Gary Puckett and his new Union Gap band members: Mike Candito, drums, Woody Lingle, base guitar, and Jamie Hilboldt, keyboard. Biographies are her genre of choice in books but likes mysteries as well. Rarely does she attend movies but enjoys watching PBS programs on television like Masterpiece Theatre, and British comedies along with other network evening TV entertainment.
Ten years after retirement Gail traveled to Antarctica to have reached her goal of visiting all seven continents and asks herself, "Now what?"
